Career-Changed Dogs
Not all dogs are meant to be service dogs. Although we try our best during the selection process to choose dogs with the right temperament, during training sometimes, for one reason or another, they just aren't fit for the job. Those dogs who did not make the cut will be posted here for adoption.
Tank
Meet Tank! A big boy with a big heart and an endless supply of cuddles!
Tank is an almost 10-month-old English Cream Golden Retriever. Tank was donated to our organization with hopes of becoming a service dog. After working with Tank for these past few months he decided that service dog was not a role he wanted, he just wants to be a dog.
Why Tank is AMAZING:
-
A cuddler through and through: bed, couch, or floor. This dog loves his people and shows it.
-
A fetcher! Tank loves to play and especially loves to get that ball or toy you keep throwing the other way.
-
Crate trained! He doesnt love it, but Tank knows that sometimes he has to relax in a crate while his people take care of other things.
-
House Trained! Like a bird watcher or Bigfoot enthusiast, Tank knows that the best place for his business is outside!.
-
Basic Manners and Obedience! Tank responds to multiple basic commands and has great potential to learn more.
-
Great Walker! Tank enjoys a good walk and utilizes a gentle leader when outside the home.
-
Emotional Support! Tank is great with tuning into people and providing comfort when times are hard.
Where Tank needs your help:
-
A supportive, calm home environment. If he can be your one and only dog in the house that would be excellent. He has lived with felines. He may not understand their ways, but he has been accepted as “tolerable” amongst the cat community.
-
Tank has a BIG BARK! This may come out when meeting new people and going to new environments.
-
Tank is reactive to strangers and small children. This isnt aggression, he get’s excited and he lets out that big bark. This can be stressful for some. Introductions in a comfortable space are always preferred.
